The Income Tax Department is a government agency that undertakes direct tax collection of the Government of India. It functions under the Department of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance. Income Tax Department is lead by the apex body Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The main responsibility of the IT Department is to execute various direct tax laws, most important among these being the Income-tax Act, 1961, to collect revenue for the Government of India. It also administers other economic laws like the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 1988 and the Black Money Act, 2015
The Income Tax Act, 1961 has a wide scope and authorizes the Income Tax Department of individuals, firms, companies, local authorities, societies, or other artificial juridical persons. So, the Income Tax Department influences businesses, income-earning citizens, and professionals, NGOs, local authorities among others. The Act permits the Income Tax Department to tax international businesses and professionals and therefore Income Tax Department deals in all matters of Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements and various other aspects of international taxation such as Transfer pricing. Tax avoidance practices are a key duty of ITD to make a sure constitutionally guided political economy. Measure to conflict aggressive tax avoidance is General Anti Avoidance Rules (GAAR).

Income Tax Department Vacancy Eligibility Criteria

Essential Academic Qualification:
- Candidates who have completed a degree from any recognized university or institute can apply before the due date for the posts of Income Tax Inspector.
- The degree of the recognized university or its equivalent, good hand in Data entry speed of 8000 key depression per hours, is necessary for tax assistant posts.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Applicants must have Matriculation (10th Pass) or its equivalent qualification.
- Those who are looking to apply for Stenographer Grade-II posts must have HSC (12th Class) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized board or institute. Transcription speed of 50 words per minute in English & 65 words per minute, Dictation Speed 10 Minutes @ 80 words per minute in Hindi on the computer.
Age Criteria:
- The Candidates age should neither below 18 years nor above 30 years as per the government norms. All other reserved category candidates will get relaxation in age as per the recruiting department and government norms.
- Relaxation of 05 years and 10 years will be given to OBC & SC/ST category respectively.
Income Tax Department Salary/Pay Scale:
- Income Tax Inspector Vacancy: Rs. 09,300/- to Rs. 34,800/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 04,600/-
- MTS Vacancy: Rs. 05,200/- to Rs. 20,200/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 01,800/-
- Stenographer Grade-2 Vacancy: Rs. 05,200/- to Rs. 20,200/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 02,400/-

Application Fee:
For the General class, a minimum fee of Rs.100/- to Rs.400/- will be collected for exam No fee of internet registration or additional fee to be paid for a company whereas the charge of the bank will be paid from the applicants.
