The exam is not only conducted four times a year but also in different exam modes. The test takers can opt for any of the three modes – Paper Based Test (PBT), Computer Based Test (CBT), or Internet-Based Test (IBT).

The exam tests the candidate’s aptitude in the following areas:

1. Language Comprehension: It’s a test to ascertain the proficiency of the candidate in the English language. The section has reading passages followed by a set of questions, jumbled sentences, and fill in the blanks with suitable word (s) choices.
2. Intelligence and Critical Reasoning: It includes topics such as seating arrangement, directions, statements and conclusions, relations, and so on.
3. Mathematical Skills: Through this section, a candidate’s aptitude is ascertained from the basic concepts of geometry, algebra, arithmetic, and such.
4. Data Analysis and Sufficiency: This part consists of questions from the data case-lets, charts, graphs, and so on.
5. Indian and Global Environment: The topics covered in this section loosely scattered across subjects such as History, Economics, Current Affairs, etc.

MAT Exam Score

The score is calculated on the scaled score out of 800 marks. Each correct answer earns +1 mark, but an incorrect attempt is penalized by -0.25 mark cut. The last section, India and Global Environment isn’t considered for the score calculation. But it’s score is shown in the separate section. Depending upon the One or Double Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT), the exam score of a test-taker is directly sent to five or seven B-schools respectively.
