MBBS is the dream course for medical aspirants, to get into the medical stream in India after intermediate students have to apply for the national entrance test i.e NEET, and must qualify in the test and secure best marks in the test to get a seat in the medical college this is the standard procedure for doing MBBS in India.

MBBS in Canada is a 3-4 years full-time MD(Doctor of Medicine) degree and it is considered as an undergraduate course. Students from other countries i.e international students must have 3 to 4 years bachelor’s degree to get into the MD program. Unlike in India, it is not MBBS it is considered as MD(Doctor of Medicine). Indian students must also appear for MCAT and NEET to be eligible for admission to medical universities in Canada.
c. In Canada out of 17 medical universities, only six colleges offer MD admission to international students. After the conclusion of the MBBS in Canada which is equal to MD, international students must appear for the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) exam to enter the residency program.
Students are also obliged to appear for the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part 1 and 2. After passing these exams, international bachelors from Canadian colleges can practice medicine in Canada. International students must remember that MD in Canada is very limited. Most universities give preference to students having sponsorship from a country or agency that collaborated with them. Indian students having MBBS degree from Canadian medical colleges don’t have to attend MCI screening tests to practice medicine in India.
Academic and Course structure:
There are 3 stages in the whole academic course
Bachelors: 3-4 years bachelor’s degree equal to Canadian medical colleges
Doctor of Medicine (MD): 3 – 4 degree classified into foundation and clerkship. The Foundation course is covered in the first 2 years and is purely academic with some lab exercises. In the last two years, students work with experienced doctors in hospitals and clinics to get hands-on experience. This is known as clerkship.
Residency: Medical residency in Canada is a 3 to 5 years training program. After completion, you get the speciality certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada (RCPSC) or a family physician certificate from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
Exams: International Students also have to qualify MCAT, NAC, MCCQE Part 1 and 2 to legally practice medicine in Canada.
