PGIMER Entrance Exam
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, conducts this national-level PG entrance exam for medical graduates. The admissions to this premier institute take place twice a year for – January intake and July intake.
For January intake, the registrations begin in the fourth week of October. Similarly, for the July in-take, they start registrations in the third week of March.
The July session will have 295 seats whereas the January session has only 207, for the academic year 2020.

PGIMER Exam Eligibility
Before filling out the online application, you are advised to go through the eligibility criteria. The summary of the eligibility criteria for the PGIMER exam for MD/MS is given below:
- Shall have an MBBS degree from a recognized university/institute recognized by the Medical Council of India
- Shall complete their internship by December 31, 2020 (this criterion may change from a session to session)
- Shall have a registration with a State/Central Medical Registration Council

The PGIMER exam has Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and each question has five responses to choose from. Any two (or more) responses or one may be correct for a question. A candidate can choose two right responses.

1. How many times can I appear for the PGIMER exam?
A: there is NO cap on the number of attempts. You can sit in for the exam as many times as you can.
2. What is the PGIMER exam fee?
A: Fee for the PGIMER exam changes from time to time and from category to category. Check it on the official site/notification.
3. Why are the test centres for the PGIMER 2021 exam increased?
A: Usually, there is only one test centre, Chandigarh. Because of the Covid crisis, the test centres have been increased to 41 across the country.
4. Is the PGIMER counselling offline?
A: No. At least not completely offline. You have to register online and once the seat allotment is done, you have to report at the college to confirm it.
