RRB conducts exams for different departments and fills the vacant posts on a timely basis. Some of them are listed below with eligibility criteria and exam patterns of top exams in RRB.

Computer Based Test
All the eligible candidates have to undergo a Computer Based Test(s) on the specified date(s), time and venue(s) as per the e-call letter to be downloaded by the candidates from the websites of RRBs/RRCs. The examination duration and number of questions for CBT are indicated below:

1.General Intelligence and reasoning
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
1.General Science
The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level (CBSE).
1.General Awareness on current affairs
Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.
PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TESTS (PET)
Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for PET is as under:

Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of
weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance. |

weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance. |

*Typing Skill Test (TST):
For the posts, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper, Typing Skill Test (TST) of qualifying nature (marks obtained in typing skill test shall not be added for making merit) shall be conducted for which the number of candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies for each of the community shall be called for. The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.

2nd Second Stage CBT
Total Duration:2 hours and 30 Minutes (for Part A and Part B together)
The Second Stage CBT shall have two parts viz Part A and Part B as detailed below.
PART A
Duration: 90 Min,
No of Questions: 100
The marks scored in Part A alone shall be used for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of the recruitment process subject to the condition that the candidate is securing a qualifying mark in Part B.

The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.

In Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.
PART B
Duration: 60 Min,
No of Questions: 75
Qualifying Mark: 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)
This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by the Director-General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualifications will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC(10+2). Qualifying marks: The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This applies to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
