Differences between CTET & TETs:

- Conducting body: CTET is conducted by CBSC on behalf of the central government. TETs are conducted by the education boards of different state governments.
- Exam notification: CTET notification is released twice every year.TET notifications are released as per the vacancies available in the state government schools.
- Age limit: There is no upper age limit to apply for the CTET exam. However, for TETs different state governments might have different age criteria.
- The medium of paper: Candidates appearing for CTET are allowed to write in any language comfortable for them. Candidates appearing for TETs should be fluent in the state language.
- Teaching jobs: Through CTET, candidates can secure teaching jobs in centrally-run government schools. Through TETs, candidates can secure teaching jobs in the respective state-run government schools.
- Certificate validation: All candidates qualifying for the CTET exam are issued an eligibility certificate which is valid for a period of seven years. All candidates qualifying for TET exams are issued eligibility certificates that are valid typically for a period of five years.
- Application fee: The CTET for candidates planning to appear in a single paper (primary or elementary) is Rs 1,000 and for candidates planning to give both the papers is Rs 1,200. The application fee for TET exams varies from state to state. Usually, the application fee for the general candidate is Rs 400-500 and for reserved category candidates is Rs 200-250.
- Both the examinations follow the same pattern. CTET and TETs consist of two papers, paper-I and paper-II. The aspirants can appear for both the papers or for a single paper. Those who only want to secure a job in the primary schools should appear for paper-I and those who want to join the elementary schools should sit for paper-II.

TET exams are conducted by both central & state governments for those candidates who want to become a teacher in Primary & Secondary schools. Every year there are several TET exams held in an offline manner to determine the eligibility of the candidates as teachers.
Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam 2021-2022/ How to apply for TET 2021-2022
Eligibility Criteria for Paper 1 of TET Exam 2021-2022:
To apply for TET Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary Exam ( class12th) or any equivalent exam with 50% of marks and also those who have passed or appearing or in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education can apply for the exam.
Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2 of TET Exam 2021-2022:
Candidates who have passed graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education. Those candidates who have passed graduation with at least 50% of marks and are appearing or have passed the 1st year of B.Ed.
Candidates who have qualified for the TET are ONLY eligible to be appointed as teachers in state schools and would be recruited for teaching posts like –
- Primary Teachers (PRTs): For classes I-V
- Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs): For classes VI-X
- Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs): For classes XI-XII
