The branch which deals with the design process is B.Des that is Bachelor of Design, this Course is a new trending course in India, Students are attending these courses more for the past few years. In 1985 the Government of India established the National Institute of Fashion Technology to promote the bachelor of design courses, fashion design course and all other design courses which need attention and regulation. NIFT has given many prominent fashion designers. 

 To get into designing courses in NIFT and other aided colleges and Universities every year NIFT conducts national level entrance exams into their Institute and lakhs of students give a try in these exams. These consist of three phases one is  Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and the last one Situation Test. students have to clear all the level to enter into some design branches and some branches don’t require all the tests to clear
